Victory Quilt–1941 Nine-Patch

Here is another block from Eleanor Burns’ new Quilt-in-a-Day book, Victory Quilts – 1940s Sampler Quilts.  See other blocks I’ve completed in my Quilt Blocks category.

The book is beautifully put together with lots of World War II memories and pictures, and the usual attention to detail that we expect from Quilt-in-a-Day books.

This block is called “1941 Nine-Patch” and is rated “intermediate skill level”.   Suggested supplies include a Mini Flying Geese ruler.  I don’t use many specialty rulers but this one is wonderful for beginners or for experienced quilters who have a lot of Flying Geese blocks to make.

The block is not difficult, especially with the Flying Geese ruler which is available from Quilt-in-a-Day.

Victory Quilt–Comfort Quilt Block

I’m continuing to make the 20 blocks in Eleanor Burns’ new Quilt-in-a-Day book, Victory Quilts – 1940s Sampler Quilts.  See other blocks I’ve completed from this great book in my Quilt Blocks category.

This block is called “Comfort Quilts” from the Kansas City Star in 1940.  It is rated “easy skill level” and instructions are given for a 6″ and 12″ finished block.  It is a very simple block to make and very pretty.
