A Bit of the Irish in my March Kitchen

I have a lot of green in my kitchen any time because I collect Jadeite and Depression Green items.  Some things I bring out especially for St. Patrick’s Day.

Some pieces were bought on a trip to Ireland …

Many items were gifts….

Most of the pieces are handmade ….

I even have special potholders for the occasion…

I have a very thin line of Irish in my ancestry, but I raised four very Irish children, so St. Patrick’s Day is a major holiday in this house.

Lillian Applegate Westfelt was a mother of 4, grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother of 3. She was an 86-year-old widow living in a nice little bungalow with her oldest daughter and a beagle-dachsund named Addie. She passed away in November, 2018.

  1. What a wonderful collection of green! Thank you for sharing these photographs. I enjoyed scrolling down through the collection. The mosaic shamrock and the cabbage bowl are particular favorites of mine.

  2. You have the best seasonal decoration, Lillian. Love your jadite, hard to collect these days. I was a Mac Callum before I married, but my ancestors came from Scotland, no Irish blood that I know of.

    1. I married a Breen whose mother was a Connor, so there was a strong dose of Irish on that side. Lillian
